In this audio recording Peter F. Drucker discusses his ideas on management in his audiobook, “The Nonprofit Drucker.” This tape is part of the series, “Performance and Results.” It is entitled, “What Is Performance in a Service Institution?” Drucker begins by saying that his interest in service institutions began when he worked for a small liberal arts college. He discusses how to measure performance and define goals first. He advises that performance should be worked on in every level of an institution, and that leaders should stick to clearly defined goals. Drucker talks about how institutions like the Red Cross have evolved and expanded to serve the public’s needs. He describes the connection between a strong mission statement and the ability to fundraise.
