Description
View 2: Exterior view of Samson Tire and Rubber Company building, also called "The Citadel." An industrial office and manufacturing plant, built as a walled Babylonian (or Assyrian) city; modeled after famous ziggurats and fortified walls of the ancient city of Khorsabad. Priest-Kings and other creatures adorn the walls. Wording at top of building reads, "Home of U.S. tires." Two large signs hanging at the front of the building reads, "U.S. Royal Tires." Company is located at 5675 Telegraph Road, City of Commerce. In 1990, it became the Citadel Outlets. Date built: 1929-30. Architects: Morgan, Walls and Clements.
