Photograph shows a group of women seated at long tables with some men and women standing in the background. Everyone has their heads turned toward a speaker or perhaps the photographer. The National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry was founded in 1867 as an fraternal organization of farmers. The organization's goals are to promote the economic and political interests of America's farmers. From 1871-1873, several local, subordinate Granges were created in California. These local groups founded the California State Grange, which was established in Napa on July 15, 1873.
