Description
Plates in: Mare Island photograph album, pg. [12]. 1991-1162. Shows ship and lifeboats at anchor; Vallejo in background. Sloop-of-war launched at Portsmouth, N.H. in 1843, commissioned in 1844. Operated along Mexican and California coast from 1845 to 1848; served in Civil War; survey assignments in eastern Pacific in 1873-74; returned to the East; struck from Navy lists in 1915.
