As the Japanese evacuees arrived at Santa Anita Race Track on April 3, 1942, the huge trucks loaded with belongings were stopped by officers for examination. Most of the evacuees were from the Long Beach-San Pedro areas and moved into the track in automobiles, taxicabs and by train.
