Photograph of accountants tallying cargo in China, ca.1900. A laborer is seen at center, a large sack slung over his shoulder, his back turned to the viewer. He reaches out with his left hand, where two seated men are distributing or collecting what appear to be long slats of wood. Arranged next to them are what appear to be racks for the wood, as well as several bundles of cloth. In the right background, other men can be seen carrying sacks towards the entrance of what appears to be a stone building.
