This is a copy negative (a photograph of another photograph). Title and date based on note from Ernest Marquez, "Santa Monica- First Pacific Electric train to Santa Monica, April 1, 1896" written on envelope as it was received. The Pacific Electric Railway system of electric streetcars and rail was also known as the Red Car system.
