Photograph of the patio at the Clark residence in Altadena, 1910. The extended eaves of the angled roof are seen here declining inwards. The eaves provide shade and protection near the walls of the patio. The center of the patio is open to sunlight or outdoor weather. A variety of plants are grown in the center of the patio.
