Description
The Agricultural Pavilion is viewed from the interior of Capitol Park in this circa 1905 image. Built in 1883/84 for the California Agricultural Society, the structure had its detractors -- some thinking that it created an unhealthy symmetry for Capitol Park and "bad contrasting effect" on the Capitol building. The structure was torn down in 1908 as the California State Fair moved to the new agricultural grounds along Stockton Boulevard.
