The Crippled Children's Society was founded in 1926 by the Los Angeles Rotary Club, primarily to serve the needs of children affected with polio. The society established several rehabilitation centers for children throughout Los Angeles to help children with all kinds of disabilities. In 2000, the name was changed to Ability First. Photograph caption dated August 10, 1961 reads "Proceeds from thrift sales, bridge parties and candy sales were responsible for new swim pool vacuum at Rancho del Valle, Crippled Children's Society, 6530 Winnetka Ave., Woodland Hills. Vacuum is gift of San Fernando Valley Alumnae association of Kappa Delta.
