Photograph caption dated October 18, 1949 reads, "Tommy Mason, Van Nuys pilot who finished in the money in two Bendix races, checks mechanical details on one of the planes he flies for a Burbank oil company. Charles Walling, a closed-course racer, flies for the same company. Assignments take them all over the globe."
