Photograph article dated October 5, 1960 partially reads, "One of the first things anyone should learn about the community of Tujunga is how to pronounce it. It is an Indian word using the Spanish pronunciation of the letter 'J' which sounds like a harsh English 'H'. Tujunga is the community of some 16,000 persons. It is located just east of its sister-city, Sunland, and spreads out along Foothill boulevard, a major west-east street which cuts through the northeast San Fernando Valley. Tujunga shoulders most of the dignified, historic responsibility in the sister act and has become known throughout the state and country for two primary reasons: its reputation as a healthy place to live for those afflicated with bronchial conditions and as the home of the late John Steven McGroarty, poet laureate of California." Photograph caption reads, "Bobby, 9, and Nancy, 6, prepare to toast some marshmallows for their parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Bauer, at their Tujunga home, 9868 Pali St."; See images #00032404; #00127693 through #00127695 for all photos in this series.
