In its inaugural year of 1939, the Sacramento Art Center located on 1423 H Street, aims to teach students in different art styles over the summer period. Co-sponsored by the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration, the center had artist such as Don Kingman, Milo Anderson, and David Slikva. The center also provides classes for children three times out of the week.
