Description
The oral history interview captures the Purvine family's perspective of Mr. Kellogg, owner of the Kellogg Ranch in Pomona (now California State Polytechnic University, Pomona) and how the facility in the mid-1940s was used as a Remount. Bruce and Doris Purvine, son and daughter of Glen Purvine, discuss their father’s place in Cal Poly Pomona University’s history through helping save the W.K. Kellogg Ranch from business developers at the end of World War II as the U.S. Army Remount was disbanding. Also discussed was the role the Purvine family held in the promotion of the Arabian horse breed in the following decades to which the continuation of this was grandfathered into the deed of the land.
