Description
Locust Market, also known as the Locust Grocery. Standing in front are the following individuals whose names and positions were written on the back of the print: Jim Towns, Delivery Frank Scetagezi (Sp?), Butcher Hugo Lenci, Meat manager John Morello, Produce manager and cousin of the owner, Luigi Ferrera Pete [last name unknown], Produce manager The market was in business from 1934-1937 at 8 Locust Ave. At that time the Locust depot was directly across the street and had been moved from Millwood Street. You could ride downtown for free from Locust. Louis Ferrara built the building in 1929 and opened Brother's Tavern and the grocery. Beads of Marin would later take over the space.
