Description
Members of the hierarchy, who came from all parts of the nation to attend the rich ceremony that elevated a native son, Most Rev. Joseph T. McGucken, the episcopacy, are shown marching into St. Vibiana's Cathedral in the procession. McGucken, a priest and auxiliary bishop for many years in Los Angeles, went on to serve as the fifth Archbishop of San Francisco from 1962 to 1977. Photo dated: March 19, 1941.
