Title supplied by cataloger. Firefighters evacuated about 60 people from DWC laundry, located in the 1100 block of E. Washington Boulevard, after a 55-gallon drum containing a strong irritant-sodium hydrosulfite sprung a leak. The chemical, a reducing agent, is used in the treatment of textiles. Nine employees complaining of skin and eye irritation were taken to local hospitals as a precautionary measure. Fireman watches as some of 25 people exposed to toxic chemical fumes await medical assistance. Paramedics had already made preliminary checks and placed information cards on victims. Photograph dated April 27, 1988.
