Description
The Sher-e-Bangla Hospital, Dhaka, started after the Civil War in 1971, resulting in founding of the new state, Bangladesh. DSM Missionary and Nursing Teacher Grethe Madsen recalls: I arrived at Dhaka June 1973, to an orthopedic/surgical hospital under construction. By funding from Denmark and USA we managed to fulfil the building project over 5-6 years. The hospital was able to accomodate 500 patients and became recognized as a Teaching Hospital. (Photo 1988).
