He served the Hermannsburg mission in Ethiopia from 1934 to 1941 and from 1951 to 1956. He was interned by the British from 1942 to 1948. Hornbostel was married to Gertrud, née Tangermann. -- Hinrich Rathje (1904-1959) was a missionary of the Hermannsburg mission in Ethiopia from 1934 to 1941 and again from 1954 to 1955. After the assassination attempt on Rodolfo Graziani in 1937 Hinrich was arrested by the Italians and sentenced to death, but later set free again. In 1938 he married Greta Köster. From 1942 to 1948 he was interned by the British.
