Photograph of a view of Engine 38 and costumed men at the recreation of the final spike on Southern Pacific's Los Angeles-San Francisco line at Lang Station in Soledad Canyon, September 5, 1926. Engine 38 sits in the left centerground of the image, facing an engine numbered 2-26 which sits in the right centerground. Several men, including one who is dressed as a Native American, stand on Engine 38 onlookers also stand on the other train, looking down toward the tracks. The hats of a crowd fill the foreground, while trees are visible in the background. Picture file card reads "Recreation of the driving of the final spike on the Southern Pacific between Los Angeles and San Francisco".
