Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the home of Diego Sepulveda on the Rancho Los Palos Verdes in San Pedro, Los Angeles, ca.1890. A large tree stands at center, partially obscuring the long, two-story ranch house which features both a porch and a balcony. Several doors are visible on each floor, each flanked by at least one window. Clapboard siding can be seen on the narrow side to the right. Picture file card reads: "Built in 1845 [1853?]. Front view of ranch house situated at the NE end of San Pedro. Built by Jose Diego Sepulveda in 1845. It was built of adobe and afterwards rebuilt of timber brought from Bear Valley by ox teams.". This was the first two story Montery-type adobe built in Southern California.
