Photograph shows a transfer taking place from a log chute to rail in Big Chico Creek Canyon - Sierra Lumber Company operations. House at the right held boiler and machinery for trailing logs in the chute. Locomotives were freighted up the Humboldt Road from Chico and skidded down into the canyon.
