Photograph of the intersection of Spring Street and First Street looking south, ca.1900-1904. The Hotel Nadeau (erected 1885) is visible at right (later the site of the Times Building). Most of the buildings appear to be commercial and average four-stories high. The busy street is crowded with streetcars, horse-drawn vehicles, and pedestrians. A banner stretched across the street in the distance reads "Labor Day Celebration".
