Photograph was edited for publication purposes San Fernando High School, originally called San Fernando Union High School, was established in 1896 and is one of the oldest high schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. The school was originally located on Fifth and Hager Streets in the City of San Fernando. In 1906, the school moved to a new campus at 130 North Brand Boulevard, the present day location of San Fernando Middle School. San Fernando High School moved again in 1952, to its present location in Pacoima. Photograph caption dated March 5, 1955 reads "Familiar sight on campus of San Fernando Junior High School is old 'C' building now to be torn down to make way for student rally and assembly area. Above, Martha Grimaldo, Mary Darrow, Linda Walker, Richard Cooper, Ed Aldava, Allan Torkunaga mount steps for last time before wreckers start. Two-story and basement, frame structure with handsome pillars and balcony was popular meeting place of high school students before being replaced by $3,000,000 new high school." San Fernando Middle School is located at 130 North Brand Boulevard in San Fernando.
