Photograph of Avalon's Empress glass-bottom boat in the water, Santa Catalina Island, ca.1910. The double deck boat sports two masts. It appears to be propelled by a paddlewheel amidships. There are American flags flying both fore and aft. A small lifeboat can be seen on the upper deck of the ship near a smokestack at the center of the boat. Another boat is visible in the background.
