Photograph caption dated August 19, 1946 reads, "First pilot to check in at Aviation Maintenance Corporation for the Bendix Trophy Race was Miss Nadine Ramsey of Los Angeles. As she steps from her ship, a former Army P-38 photo-reconnaisance [sic] ship, she is greeted by Colonel John H. Fite, president of AMC. Thus far, Miss Ramsey is the only woman pilot entered in the cross-country race, which is being held for the first time since 1939."
