Ozro W. Childs, a Protestant horticulturalist, was a founding father of The University of Southern California. His sprawling estate located at 1111 So. Main, occupied all of the land from Main to Hill streets, and from Eleventh to Twelfth streets. It later became known as the "Huntington Purchase". The photo shows the exterior front of the house, with a horse-drawn carriage next to a tree, as well as a child wearing a white dress and hat to the left of the picture.
