Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated February 21, 1951 partially reads, "A story of heartbreak ended in happiness early today when a big, four-engine Western airliner roared from the Valley. On board was Cpl. Leonard Modee, the 23-year-old soldier who became stranded in the Valley when his car was stolen. The giant plane landed at midmorning in Seattle, Wash., in time to keep Modee from being listed A.W.O.L. at his base there. Passage for Modee was arranged through Western Air Lines by the Valley Times... A lot of Valley people got busy after reading of the corporal's plight. First of all the police recovered Modee's car. It was found, officers said, in the garage of a house occupied by two suspected forgers arrested early this week. Ironically, one of the suspects, Allan Gregory, 23, of 7335 Riverton Ave., North Hollywood, was an old schoolmate of Modee's."; See image #00137530 for additional photo in this series.
