Photograph caption dated February 26, 1963 reads "Karl Nobuyoli, 17, of East Los Angeles, left, beams after winning the American Legion 20th District Oratorical Contest Speak-off in Burbank Sunday. Nobuyoli received the trophy from Jack Curley, back, Valley Times TODAY business manager. The trophy was donated by the Valley Times TODAY."
