Originally known as the Hebrew Sheltering Home for the Aged, the Jewish Home for the Aging was founded in Boyle Heights in 1912. About four years later, the Home's first permanent facility was built on Boyle Avenue, where it existed for decades. In 1967, acreage in Reseda was purchased and a facility was built on Victory Boulevard. A merger in 1979 with the Menorah Village created a second campus on Tampa Avenue in Reseda. Photograph caption dated October 30, 1957 reads, "Camj [sic] Fire Girls of Central Valley District present gifts to B. L. Garon, executive director of California Home for Aged, Reseda, for residents. Gifts, made by girls, represent one of service projects completed by Camp Fire Girls. Making presentation are, from left, Janet Limpus, Lucy Owens and Nancy Murray."
