Description
This is a photograph of Sister Paulita Hoffman visiting homes in Hingning. "Home visiting used to be a part of the Maryknoll Sisters program in the one time free China. These people who used to welcome Sister at the door now must answer to the Communist knock. The street Sister Paulita surveys is that street on which she walked to the public trial. Then, it was mud, rocks, and mis-treatment for her. Now, of course, Sister is home at Maryknoll, NY after being expelled from China in 1952 following 13 months of imprisonment."
