Description
Collage of reproduction photographs and ephemera documenting the history of Orchard Supply Hardware. A label on the reverse reads: Early 90's: The establishment of the big-box was a game-changer. To remain competitive Orchard Supply touted its specialized selection (i.e. 4ft. Pipe Wrench), personal service (i.e. Certified Nursery), and unique conveniences (i.e. We Load It). OSH also launched much more aggressive promotional events, including the famed No Sales Tax. Late 1990's: Searching for a long-term, strategic positioning, OSH recognized that what made it unique and appealing was not always visible. It recognized the importance of the intangibles. The way OSH understands and empathizes with its customers in a way that can't be matched.
