Burton Hill Mustin was born on February 8, 1884 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Some sources cite his birth year as 1882. He was a well-known and highly regarded character actor who appeared in more than 150 film and television productions. Mustin was a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. His serious acting career began at the age of 67 and continued until his death on January 28, 1977. Photograph caption dated January 11, 1958 reads "City Councilman James Corman, center, joins Valley barbershop quartet which will sing at benefit for Valley Association for Handicapped Jan. 18 at Reseda High School. Corman introduced resolution in City Council commending group for benefit. From left are Jim Laverty, tenor; Burt Mustin, baritone; Corman; Rang Hancen, bass, and Howell Jones, lead."
