Photograph caption dated November 2, 1938 reads, "Here is the 'beauty-and-shock proof' jury of nine women and three men who are hearing the case. Front row, left to right, Mrs. Violet Heathman, Mrs, Elizabeth Russell, Mrs. Mattie Mitchell, Mrs. Lillian Shaber, Mrs. Zoe Hansen, and Mrs. Dorothy Kenney. Back row, W. H. Naylor, J. E. Wood, Mrs. Cora Burton, Mrs. Betty Moss, Mrs. Viola Daley and S.L. Strock. Before they were chosen the jurors were asked by attorneys if the [illegible] of Miss Rand or the idea of her dancing [illegible] in only talcum powder and fans would sway judgment. They heard Stanford testify that Miss Rand ripped his shirt while demanding his films."
