“Quartermaster giving out food.” Group portrait of military personnel standing around buckets while the hospital quartermaster measures out food from containers. This is at the carrier camp and hospital at Dodoma where Lt. Irvine was stationed from July to November 1917. ❧ The image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in German East Africa and Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During this time he would meet Dr John W Arthur which in turn would lead to his missionary work at Chogoria in Kenya.
