Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on November 16, 1962 states "The newly paved runway is the 2,600 foot extension on the Lake Tahoe Airport which is nearing completion. The end of the original runway is marked by the white numeral at the far left. The Upper Truckee River channel, in the foreground below the runway, was relocated to make way for the extension. Parts of the old river channel can be seen on the opposite side of the runway."
