Photograph caption dated August 25, 1954 reads "Rev. John Simmons, seated, signs California Safety Pledge as Glenn Taylor of Jr. Chamber smiles his approval. Rev. Simmons, YMCA leader said, 'The Safety Pledge Crusade is the most effective means of combating traffic accident (sic) I've ever seen. Every motorist owes it to himself and his loved ones to sign the Safety Pledge.' So far more than 15,000 motorists in the Valley have signed the Pledge."
