Photograph of the Ventura County Railway No. 2 steam engine in a grassy field, ca.1935. At center, a man can be seen in the cab of the engine, just above the number "2" painted on the side. Two railway cars are visible behind the engine, one with "V.C. RY. Co." emblazoned on its side.
News release included with the photoprint reads "Orange Empire Railway Museum. Incorporated 1956. Post Office Box 548. Perris California 92370. (714) 657-2605. January 25, 1980. Immediate. for more information: Jim Walker (213) 240-9130. Chug into history on an old time passenger train. Listen once again to the lonely whistle of a steam locomotive. Ride a Big Red Car from southern California's legendary Pacific Electric system. This is a Rail Festival '80 at the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris, Saturday April 19, and Sunday April 20. The gate to the sights and sounds of the street railway era will be open between 10 am and 5pm. Admission to the museum and unlimited train and streetcar rides is $3 for adults and $2 for children 6 to 11. The Museum is 20 miles south of Riverside. Use Interstate 15E and take the Perris exit southbound or California 74 West exit northbound, then follow the blue Trolley Museum signs to 2201 South A Street. A wide variety of special displays will make Rail Festival '80 a day of fun and nostalgia for the entire family. See how mail was sorted while rushing to this destination in a Railway Post Office car
