Description
"Eine Kingafrau reibt Maismehl auf einem Stein. Tabak, Vorratskorb." ("A Kinga woman is grinding cornmeal on a rock. Tobacco, storage basket."). In the foreground: a woman kneeling on the ground while grinding corn on a rock. A mat with tobacco leaves spread out and two small vessels as well as a smaller mat with corn are lying in front of her. On a stool behind her, a big basket topped by a thatched roof. Bushes and trees characterize the whole scene. Imprinted on the image: "3188".
Adolf Ferdinand Stolz (1871-1917) was a mission trader of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine in Ipanya from 1898 to 1902 and in Kyimbila from 1903 to 1914. He was responsible for the plantations in Kyimbila and Rutenganio. In 1898 he married Helene Elisabeth, née Kootz (1872-1899), in 1903 Anna, née Schulze.
