Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. Portrait of the Constantine family. From left to right: Gioachino; Lorenzo holding baby Maria; Vinconzo; and Maria. The family immigrated from Mombaruzzo, Asti, Piemonte, Italy to Los Angeles between 1892 and 1896. Lorenzo was a cooper and worked for the Guasti Winery on 3rd and Alameda Street. At the time this photo was taken, they resided at 316 Aliso, in Los Angeles. Photo dated: 1898.
