Description
MAP: SACRAMENTO COUNTY. 1855. Manuscript cadastral map showing streets and lots (including measurements). Bounded by River, Stratford, Bidwell, and Sacramento streets. Shows American River, drainage, location of roads, bridges, and Sacramento Valley Rail Road tracks and depot. Identifies property of one landowner, J.S. Meredith. Preliminary draft of the final official map which Theodore Judah later prepared and submitted to the Sacramento County recorder on Dec. 27, 1855. On this draft map, Judah has written 10 of the final 14 points of his description of survey and he shows the buildings of a small settlement along the Old Road to Sacramento which he identifies on the later official map as Negro Bar.
