Description
This is a photograph of the boys and girls of Fr. Murphy's school. The line on the left is all boys and the line on the right is all girls. They are facing the school building where two flags are hung crossed over eachother. They are all wearing uniforms.
Rev. Murphy was born in Springfield, MA. He entered Maryknoll in 1923 and was ordained in 1929 and assigned that year to Fushun. He was repatriated aboard the refugee ship Gripsholm in 1942 and returned to Manchuria in 1946. The communist presence forced him to return to the U.S. in 1947.
