First photograph caption dated March 19, 1958 reads "Chubby-faced James Vernon Ridley, 38, with his blistered feet wrapped in bandages, undergoes questioning at Valley police station shortly after he was arrested in Malibu Beach area. Police say he confessed attacking two small Valley girls he lured into his car."; Second photograph caption dated June 20, 1958 reads "Appearing in Superior Court today, James Vernon Ridley, 35-year-old Encino father of six children, suddenly pleaded guilty to one count of kidnaping (sic) and two counts of child molestation and was committed to Atascadero State Mental Hospital for 90 days."
