Description
Samuel Newsom at the Marin Society of Artists Show held on September 20th and 21st at the El Paseo in Mill Valley. Newsom, a renowned artist and landscaper, was 42 years old at the time of this photo. He lived in Japan, immersed himself in the culture, and published several books related to Japanese gardens and bonsai. Newsom bought "the" barn in Mill Valley (32 Eugene Street) and hosted a Friday Night Art Group there for a decade. He and his wife operated "The Greenwood Tree" in Mill Valley. They lived in Mill Valley until 1975.
