Photograph article dated July 20, 1961 partially reads, "Music men are made, not born. Ask The Squares. The Squares got started when two men, one an employe [sic] of a milk company, the other an accordion teacher, teamed up to help out at one of Ed Barkas' beginner graduation classes and found themselves in business. They grew in number as well as popularity. They are now three with the addition of Rick Geiger, who plays the bass." Photograph caption reads, "The Squares get ready to ring, ring the banjo for square dancers. Members of the trio, from left, are Gene Schwartz, Rick Geiger and John Huggins."
