Description
Photograph of a man posing in an unidentified oil refinery, ca.1940. The tall, thin man stands on the left in coveralls and a hat grasping the levers of the machine at center with his thick, leather gloves. Thick, dark rope rolled on a spool at the bottom of the machine is pulled up to the ceiling by the upper portion of the machine. Chains hang on either side of the machine and a thick pipe stands along its left side just behind the man. A pathway leads to an outdoor portion of the refinery in the background on the far left.
