Illustrating natural reproduction following fire, the seedlings coming up in place where cones disseminated seed. Note persistent cones on lumbs [sic] and stems. Two of seedlings have been browsed by sheep. Fire passed through area about 5 years before. Seedling in front of hat browsed by sheep at least twice. Santa Cruz Island. June 1931
