Photograph caption dated May 25, 1960 reads, "Elected by state convention at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, to lead California's 232 Future Farmer chapters for 1960-61 was this group of outstanding leaders shown with Byron J. McMahon, chief of the State Bureau of Agricultural Education, far right. Left to right, Jerry Diefenderfer, San Luis Obispo, state sentinel; James Silva, Los Banos, state vice president; Alvin Gould, Clovis, state reporter; Roy Killgore, North Hollywood, state president; Tom Brazil, San Luis Obispo, state secretary, and Jim Pultz, King City, state treasurer. Convention and judging contest drew 1,300 FFA boys and their high school advisors."
