Description
Remains of the stupa built on a high square terrace and surrounded by a high wall. Considered the earliest shrine in Polonnaruwa; the entrance to it is through a stone doorway at the top of a flight of steps with guardstones and a moonstone at the bottom. The surrounding boundary wall is richly decorated with terracotta plaques with carvings on its plinth.
