Photograph caption dated May 12, 1965 reads, "Dr. Harold E. Pearson is chief chemist for the Metropolitan Water District. It is his job to make certain that water from Metropolitan Water District pipelines is pure and clean. One problem is to test for hardness of the water which varies from place to place and day to day.
